Neuroanaesthesia CPD

The Neuroanaesthesia Society of Great Britain and Ireland has been asked by the Royal College of Anaesthetists to formulate competencies for Level 3 CPD within the speciality. The following were agreed may form an outline for those with job planned sessions within the speciality, with specific goals determined by appraisal. Note: Consultants who do not have job planned sessions in neuroanaesthesia but cover the speciality whilst on call should consult Level 2 of the CPD matrix.

Level 3 CPD Matrix Neuroanaesthesia:

L3	F1	Anaesthesia for intracranial surgery
L3	F2	Anaesthesia for complex spinal surgery
L3	F3	Anaesthesia for neuroradiology
L3	F4	Patient positioning for neuro procedures
L3	F5	Understanding of neuro critical care

The NASGBI will offer educational opportunities to support the Level 3 matrix requirements via the Update Session of the annual ASM as specific coded L3 modules over a 5 year rolling period in line with revalidation requirements.
