Enhanced Appraisal
General
The consensus development group met at RCOA in September 2009. At this meeting an "Appraisal Framework" has been developed. This work has attracted much attention across a number of medical Royal Colleges – the questions are generic and could potentially be used in helping to assess doctors, not only in anaesthesia, in different medical specialties in demonstrating their compliance with the attributes set by the GMC. The documents published on the RCOA website are attached here for the convenience of the members.
- Revalidation appraisal guidance - how the summative aspects of revalidation appraisal might work, including details of the rating criteria an appraiser might use in assessing an appraisee's supporting information (or 'evidence') and performance.

RCOA is conducting a pilot project to evaluate this framework. The project is to conclude in Jan 2010 and a meeting to evaluate the results is on 21st Jan 2010 at the RCOA premises.
